Football Italia first aired Channel Four on September 6th 1992. For many in the UK, it was their first introduction to live coverage of Italian football and Serie A — the world’s best league at the time.
Do you remember the first game you watched?
Did you pick a team to follow?
Do you still follow Serie A and/or that team now?
I’d love to hear your answers and any other recollections below.
Note: Australian viewers received much of the same Football Italia coverage on the international feed which was broadcast on SBS from October 1993. It would be fantastic to hear from them also.

I was 13 when Football Italia launched on C4 and remember being so excited in the build up to that 1st broadcast.
I watched from the very start, and what a game it was. Sampdoria 3 Lazio 3 and all those who said that Calcio was dull and boring were put in their place.
Milan were, and still are, my team because of their exploits in the 92/93 season. Winning 7-3 in Florence and putting 5 past Napoli and Lazio – wow, this was something I wasn’t used to watching games in Scotland.
Ironically it was Milan’s defence that excelled in the following season and I was left in awe of Rossi and THAT back four. Still the best ever defensive line in my view.
I still watch Calcio on TV regularly and have been fortunate enough to attend some games in person over the years. 92/93 was the start of a calcio love affair that continues to this day
